Kevin Zimmerman on 09/11/2021CSI Mini Storage in Richmond is another semi-hidden local gem. I believe it to be owned and run by good local people who employ good people, and I've been a customer for a long time. It is a sea of repurposed shipping containers, and you can rent a whole container or a smaller, individual piece of one with its own door and added interior partitions. Some of the containers have been fitted with power and lighting and are made available as unheated project space. If you aren't familiar with Richmond micro-climatology, there are times near the coast when some stunningly cold winds by Bay Area standards blow in off the bay, cold enough that the florescent lamps in your lighted unit may be quite reluctant about that initial start. Also, their containers don't leak in my experience, but you may want to cover or wrap certain things like fabrics to protect them from the possible drip of condensation from the ceiling depending on the time of year. Management is thoughtful, and I've been told the facility runs on solar power. They have long and dependable access hours, very helpful for those of us with a lot going on. I have the strong impression they know what's going on at their facility which I very much like in general. Yep, it's Richmond, but in a semi-industrial area I've heard described "no-man's land" by someone with extensive experience in the matter. If you think about it, this is exactly what you would want in the increasingly urbanized Bay Area, especially when you are backed, as I've experienced and I believe you would be, by an experienced management and staff who knows what they are doing and are straight dealers. Highly recommended.
